The transportation industry was one of the hardest hit industries during the COVID-19 pandemic witnessing an 83% drop in ridership. As lockdowns lifted, ridership still hadn’t reached pre-pandemic numbers. 

Greater Toronto Area’s largest transit system needed to instil confidence in their hygiene practices to gain public trust. 

This document will review:

• The challenges faced by the GTA’s transit system in a post-pandemic return to travel.
• CleanSlate UV’s study to determine the need for device sanitization in transit hubs. 
• 100% of passengers’ phones tested were positive for pathogenic bacteria.
• 92% of passengers felt more comfortable visiting a station that had CleanSlate UV.
